The resources completed the removal of 5,000 cubic meters of clay sediments from the Al-Arousa system in Babylon.

The Ministry of Water Resources announced today, Friday, the completion of the removal of nearly 5,000 cubic meters of silt from the Al-Arousa regulator in Babil Province in preparation for the winter agricultural season.

The ministry stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that the Water Resources Directorate in Babil, in coordination with the Maintenance Administration of Irrigation and Drainage Projects in Babil, has commenced cleaning works at the Al-Arousa regulator located on the Kifl Canal and the Hillah Canal at kilometer (2) to enhance the efficiency of the regulator and improve water flow.

It added that the cleaning works included the removal of accumulated silt at the regulator's inlet and outlet using specialized machinery, which contributes to improving the facility's efficiency and water flow.

It continued that the Al-Arousa regulator is considered one of the important structures to regulate and pass water discharge to the Kifl Canal and the Hillah Canal with a design discharge of 36 cubic meters per second, in addition to its role in securing water for drinking water supplies and orchards.

The ministry clarified that the works aim to secure the required water discharge and ensure that water reaches the benefiting areas and lands, supporting the requirements of the winter agricultural season and increasing the efficiency of the irrigation system.
