The overthrow of a suspect who betrayed his friend's trust and stole his savings in Baghdad.

The Karakh Directorate for Fighting Crime arrested a suspect today, Friday, for stealing his friend’s savings amounting to 20,000 US dollars and recovered the entire amount.

The directorate stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that the suspect betrayed his friend’s trust and took all the savings he had collected to expand his shop, noting that the operation came after the citizen called the Abu Ghraib Crime Fighting Section and that the work team immediately moved to the incident location after obtaining judicial approvals.

It added that the work team began collecting evidence and information that helped identify the thief, pointing out that with specialized technical effort, they were able to determine the suspect's location and set up a tight ambush that led to his arrest in record time before he could dispose of the money.

It continued that the entire stolen amount of 20,000 US dollars was recovered and returned to its owner.
