Iraq's Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein emphasized today, Friday, the importance of enhancing the Arab-African partnership and developing mechanisms for joint action between the two sides.
Hussein stated in a speech delivered at the 10th ministerial meeting of the Arab-African partnership coordination committee in New York, representing Iraq as the president of the Arab summit, that the implementation of the outcomes of the fourth Arab-African summit should be followed up and the joint report of the Secretary-General of the Arab League and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission should be utilized.
He added that political coordination regarding common issues must be strengthened and political solutions supported while respecting the sovereignty of states, reiterating Iraq's steadfast position in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the necessity of respecting international law.
He continued that economic and developmental cooperation requires the expansion of trade areas, agricultural development, food security, and organizing an Arab-African trade fair, calling for the development of sustainable mechanisms to finance partnership programs and completing the statutory framework for the disaster response fund.
The minister clarified the importance of enhancing cooperation in the field of migration, exchanging experiences and information, and supporting joint cultural initiatives, confirming Iraq's commitment to continue working with Arab and African countries and regional organizations to strengthen this partnership.
